WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR OCTOBER 17, 2022 TO OCTOBER 23, 2022

During the week of October 17, 2022, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 992 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.7 that occurred on October 20 at 14:50:51 AKST (October 20, 22:50:51 UTC), 47 miles SE of Mt. Sergief in the Andreanof Islands region of the Aleutian Islands.

<p>There were six events greater than M3.5 that occurred outside the subduction zone, four of which were felt in their surrounding regions.&nbsp; The largest of these events was a M4.4 10 miles S of Skwentna on October 21st at&nbsp;21:02:35 AKDT (October 10, 2022&nbsp;16:00:56 UTC). &nbsp;It was reported as felt in Wasilla.&nbsp;<br />

Detected icequakes decreased this week with 41 icequakes located in southcentral and southeast Alaska.<br />
