WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR OCTOBER 3, 2022 TO OCTOBER 9, 2022

During the week of October 3, 2022, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 817 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.8 that occurred on October 5 at 14:16:49 AKDT (October 5, 22:16:49 UTC), 41 miles SE of Kantishna.

All other events greater than 3.5 occurred along the subduction zone except for a M4.6 17 miles NE of Mt. Ugashik, a M4.6 7 miles SE of Iliamna Volcano, M4.8 and M4.1 44 miles E of Sutton, a M4.4 136 miles E of Dawson City, a M4.3 60 miles W of Elfin Cove, a M4.2 22 miles NW of Burwash Landing and a M3.7 9 miles E of Willow. Areas of ongoing seismicity include the Purcell Mountain swarm, Kaktovic, offshore Kodiak, and Simeonof-Chignik zones.  There were 24 icequakes recorded in Prince William Sound, Icy Bay and E of Juneau.  Nine events were reported as felt.
