WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER 26, 2022 TO OCTOBER 2, 2022

During the week of September 26, 2022, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 935 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.0 that occurred on September 26 at 03:39:19 AKDT (September 26, 11:39:19 UTC), 27 miles W of Amchitka.

All other events greater than 3.5 occurred along the subduction zone except for a M5.0 25 miles NE of Icy Bay, a M3.5 38 miles SW of Savoonga, and a M3.5 125 miles S of Icy Bay.  Areas of ongoing seismicity include the Purcell Mountain swarm, western Brooks Range, Kaktovic, offshore Kodiak, and Simeonof-Chignik zones.  23 icequakes were recorded in the eastern Alaska Range, Kenai Fjords National Park, Prince William Sound, Icy Bay, and Southeast.  Two events were reported as felt.
