WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR MAY 1, 2023 TO MAY 7, 2023
During the week of May 1, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 919 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.6 that occurred on May 4 at 23:34:15 AKDT (May 5, 07:34:15 UTC), 88 miles SE of Westdahl Peak.
Other significant events include a magnitude 4.0 earthquake that occurred 60 miles SE of False Pass on May 4, 2023 00:02:11 AKDT, and a magnitude 3.8 earthquake that occurred 55 miles W of Kivalina on May 4, 2023 11:17:16 AKDT.
Three earthquakes were reported as being felt, a magnitude 2.8 that occurred 12 miles NW of Anchorage on May 3, 2023 13:18:08 AKDT, a magnitude 3.0 that occurred 9 miles N of Hatcher Pass on May 4, 2023 21:20:45 AKDT, and a magnitude 3.1 that occurred 15 miles NE of Tyonek on May 5, 2023 06:33:04 AKDT.
There were 22 icequakes recorded near Prince William Sound, Icy Bay, and Yakutat Bay.
