WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR JULY 17, 2023 TO JULY 23, 2023

During the week of July 17, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 968 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.0 that occurred on July 19 at 15:56:05 AKDT (July 19, 23:56:05 UTC), 5 miles N of Little Sitkin Pass.

Other significant events include a magnitude 3.9 earthquake that occurred 13 miles N of Yakutat on July 16, 2023 17:27:33 AKDT, this event was felt in Yakutat, a magnitude 3.4 earthquake that occurred 4 miles N of Chugiak on July 17, 2023 02:40:53 AKDT,  this event was felt in Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley, a magnitude 4.4 earthquake that occurred 48 miles S of Sand Point on July 18, 2023 03:06:32 AKDT, this event was an aftershock of the July 15, 2023 magnitude 7.2 Sand Point earthquake, and a magnitude 3.5 earthquake that occurred 21 miles W of Kenai on July 21, 2023 13:09:05 AKDT.

There were 15 icequakes recorded near Denali National Park and Preserve, Prince William Sound region, Icy Bay and east of Juneau.

Two events were reported as felt.
