JIS is the nearest station to Juneau, generously hosted by our partners at the US Coast Guard facility on Juneau Island. The site was established in 2001 and then removed in 2006, but it was reestablished in 2011 as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act-funded upgrade to the Advanced National Seismic System.
