VMT is located at the Valdez Marine Terminal, the southernmost pump station of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. The marine terminal is snugged up against the steep mountains of Port Valdez fjord. This site is part of a long-standing monitoring system for the pipeline. The Earthquake Center operates this system in conjunction with the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.
