C16K was installed in 2017 as part of the temporary USArray project and integrated in 2020 into the permanent Alaska network as part of the National Science Foundation-sponsored Alaska Geophysics Arctic Observing Network project. This station is located on the North Slope, near the Lisburne Hills on the Lisburne Peninsula. It is situated in an area of flat Arctic tundra, east of the community of Point Hope. Wildlife is a challenge: this station has suffered bear damage in the past. C16K is generously hosted by our partners at the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC) and the North Slope Borough.
