Sand Creek is a remote site in the eastern Interior, about 50 miles east of Delta Junction. The site is perched on a rocky hilltop. In 2014 the sensor installation was improved with a 9-foot borehole and new sensor as part of the USArray project. A GNSS instrument was installed in June 2023. The broken rock of the hilltop made it difficult to find a spot to anchor the GNSS instrument. The field team solved the problem by running a longer cable than usual to the GNSS instrument so they could bolt it into a buried boulder.
