Carolyn supervises the field team’s priorities, coordinates field travel logistics for station maintenance and repairs, handles permitting, and helps strategize how to maximize station health and plan future station upgrades. While an undergraduate at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, Carolyn worked as a seismic data analyst for the Hawaii PLUME experiment. Carolyn obtained her Ph.D. in Geology and Geophysics (specializing in volcanology) at UH Manoa in 2013. She then did a postdoctoral position at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, helping build VolcanoBot to map volcanic conduits in 3D underground. After that, she became a systems engineer for the Mars InSight mission. Carolyn enjoys furniture carpentry, acrylic paintings, bookbinding, quilting, and cooking up fun group meals.
