WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR DECEMBER 25, 2023 TO DECEMBER 31, 2023

During the week of December 25, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 861 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.7 that occurred on December 25 at 08:32:35 AKST (December 25, 17:32:35 UTC), 88 miles SE of Westdahl Peak.

Another notable event, a magnitude 4.5 earthquake that occurred 58 miles SE of Akutan on December 26, 2023 21:16:42 AKST and there were 8 events in this area for next 2 days, ranging in magnitudes between 2.3 - 4.2.

There were 18 icequakes recorded in the Prince William Sound, Icy Bay, Yakutat Bay and Mt. Wrangell.

2 events were reported as felt.
