WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR JULY 21, 2025 TO JULY 27, 2025

During the week of July 21, 2025, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 1158 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.4 that occurred on July 25 at 21:03:53 AKDT (July 26, 05:03:53 UTC), 24 miles W of Amchitka.

Following last weeks mainshock event, the aftershock sequence of Sand Point's magnitude 7.3 continues with over 700 earthquakes, varying from 1.5 to 4.8 in magnitude. The largest of these aftershocks this week was the magnitude 4.8 on July 22, 00:25:17 AKDT. Other interesting earthquakes this week include five felt events around south-central and southwest Alaska.

On July 22, 07:41:54 AKDT, a magnitude 3.5 earthquake, 13 km E of Fox River, was reported as felt in the regions of Homer and Anchor Point.

On July 24, 05:23:24 AKDT, a magnitude 3.2 earthquake, 4 km NNW of Meadow Lakes, was reported as felt in Chugiak, Eagle River, and in the areas of Palmer and Wasilla.

On July 24, 10:13:09 AKDT, a mangitude 2.8 earthquake, 12 km SSE of Elmendorf Air Force Base, was reported as felt in Anchorage and Eagle River.

On July 25, 03:08:50 AKDT, a magnitude 3.6 earthquake, 4 km WSW of Diamond Ridge, Alaska, was reported as felt in the Homer region.

On July 27, 14:47:05 AKDT, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake, 23 km N of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, was reported as felt in Unalaska and Akutan.

This week, there were 7 icequakes in the Icy Bay, Yakutat, and Prince William Sound areas.
