WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR AUGUST 11, 2025 TO AUGUST 17, 2025
During the week of August 11, 2025, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 489 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.2 that occurred on August 14 at 10:00:59 AKST (August 14, 18:00:59 UTC), 53 miles SE of Yunaska Island.
Other notable events were a magnitude 4.0 earthquake that occurred on August 13, 2025 17:29:48 AKDT, 41 miles E of Cantwell, and a magnitude 3.5 earthquake that occurred on August 16, 2025 22:50:12 AKDT, 28 miles NW of Anchorage. These two events were reported as felt this week.
There was a magnitude 4.5 earthquake that occurred on August 10, 2025 21:52:03 AKDT with 24 aftershocks in this week, ranging from magnitude 2.0-3.4.
Additionally, five icequakes were recorded at Steller Glacier, Icy Bay and Prince William Sound during this week.
