PS01 is located at Pump Station #1 of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, on the tundra of the Arctic Coastal Plain. This site is part of a long-standing monitoring system for the pipeline. The field team reported temperatures can reach -40 even into late March. The Earthquake Center operates this system in conjunction with the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.
