R16K is an ocean-view site located at Pilot Point on the east side of Ugashik Bay. This site sits on a small clearing atop a hill. R16K was acquired in 2019 under dedicated support from our partners at the U.S. Geological Survey to strengthen earthquake monitoring across southern Alaska. The site was originally installed as part of the USArray project. UNAVCO generously shares resources at this site; its Network of the Americas (NOTA) GPS site AC52, formerly part of the Plate Boundary Observatory, is co-located here. R16K is generously hosted by private landowners at the Tundra Loon Lodge.
