BAL is located on Baldy Mountain in the Granite Range, inside Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. The station was originally installed in 1973 and then modernized in 2010 as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act-funded upgrade to the Advanced National Seismic System.
