GHO sits on the southern flank of Eska Mountain, near Gloryhole Creek and about four miles north of Sutton-Alpine. The station was originally installed in 1984 and modernized in 2011 as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act-funded upgrade to the Advanced National Seismic System. In 2021 the vault was replaced with a USArray-style borehole and new sensor. We also added a GNSS receiver. This site is generously hosted by our partners at the Alaska Department of Natural Resources.
