2006 M6.6 Andreanof Islands Earthquake

The July 8th event was preceded by a series of moderate foreshocks that started on July 1st. The strongest foreshocks (M5.5-5.6) occurred on July 1st at 11:34 am ADT, and on July 2nd at 8:57 am and 9:20 am ADT.

The Alaska Earthquake Center located more than 250 aftershocks of the M6.6 event within the first week following the mainshock and over 500 events total between July 1st and 31st in the source region. There were three aftershocks with magnitudes greater than 5.0 through the end of July. The largest aftershock a M5.5 occurred on July 8 at 8:16 pm ADT (July 9, 4:16 am UTC).
