During the month of February 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 3126 earthquakes within the state with magnitude ranging from 0.52 to 5.5 and depth from 0 km to 247 km. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.5 that occurred on February 28 at 06:50:21 AKDT (February 28, 15:50:21 UTC), 5 miles S of Semisopochnoi Island. Totally, 14 earthquakes of M 4.0-5.5 have been recorded in February, all of them occurred along the subduction zone.

We also reported seismic sources other than regional tectonic earthquakes. Of these, 40 were suspected quarry blasts (M0.7-1.9) in the vicinity of either Fort Knox or Usibelli mines and 56 ice quakes (M1.0-1.9) primarily located in the Prince William Sound, Yakutat Bay and Brady Glacier. Seismic activity remained recorded at the volcanoes of  Katmai group with a total of 34 events (M0.8-2.9).
