WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR APRIL 1, 2024 TO APRIL 7, 2024

During the week of April 1, 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 759 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.4 that occurred on April 4 at 11:57:03 AKDT (April 4, 19:57:03 UTC), 33 miles E of Okmok Caldera. This event was reported as felt in Unalaska.

Another notable event this week was a magnitude 3.7 earthquake that occurred 63 miles SW of Little Diomede on April 1, 2024 13:31:46 AKDT.  Throughout the week, we recorded 12 aftershocks of the January 19, 2024, M5.3 Salcha earthquake, ranging from M0.9 to 2.5.

We recorded 6 icequakes recorded in the Prince William Sound and Icy Bay.  Also, there were 2 suspected quarry blasts (M0.7 and M1.4) located in the Goldstream Valley starting this week.

5 events were reported as felt.
