WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR APRIL 21, 2025 TO APRIL 27, 2025

During the week of April 21, 2025, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 384 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.7 that occurred on April 27 at 12:09:37 AKDT (April 27, 20:09:37 UTC), 52 miles S of Nikolski.

We had four felt events this week. The first, a magnitude 4.5 earthquake, located 5 miles NW of Willow, occurred on April 22, 2025, at 16:24:51 AKDT, and was reported as felt throughout south-central Alaska.

The second felt event for the week occurred on April 24, 2025, at 07:14:17 AKDT, 43 miles E of Kodiak. This magnitude 4.5 earthquake was reported as felt in Kodiak, Homer, and Anchor Point.

The third felt event was a magnitude 4.6 earthquake, occurring on April 25, 2025, at 11:17:03 AKDT, 21 miles NW of Port Lions. This earthquake was reported as felt in Kodiak.

The fourth and final felt event this week occurred on April 26, 2025, at 11:54:53 AKDT. This magnitude 4.6 earthquake, just 2 miles W of Ninilchik, was reported as felt throughout the Kenai Peninsula and the Anchorage Area.

Activity in the Kaktovic region slows down, with 6 recorded earthquakes this week, down from the 9 recorded last week.

There were 4 icequakes detected this week, occurring in the regions of Prince William Sound and Yakutat, and ranging from 1.5 to 1.7 in magnitude.
