WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 25, 2024 TO DECEMBER 1, 2024

During the week of November 25, 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 552 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.4 that occurred on December 1 at 13:26:37 AKST (December 1, 22:26:37 UTC), 89 miles SE of Westdahl Peak. This event was not reported as felt. 

There were 4 felt events this week: 

Two of these felt earthquakes were located in the Kenai Peninsula, the first being a magnitude 3.1 earthquake that occurred on November 27 at 09:26:39 AKST, 25 miles SE of Tyonek. This event was reported as felt across the Kenai Peninsula. The second was a magnitude 2.8 earthquake that occurred on November 28 at 07:03:42 AKST, 4 miles W of Soldotna. This event was reported as felt near Kenai and Sterling.

Up in the interior, there was a magnitude 1.6 earthquake that occurred on November 26 at 20:38:31 AKST, 2 miles NE of Salcha. This event was reported as felt in Salcha.

In southcentral, there was magnitude 3.5 earthquake that occurred on November 29 at 19:11:13 AKST, 10 miles E of Skwentna. This event was reported as felt near Talkeetna. 

There were 4 icequakes detected this week, all located in the Prince William Sound area.
