During the month of March 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 3598 earthquakes within the state with magnitude ranging from 0.5 to 5.8 and depth from 0 km to 192 km. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.8 that occurred on March 30 at 08:28:58 AKDT (March 30, 16:28:58 UTC), 3 miles N of Little Sitkin Pass. Totally, 11 earthquakes of M 4.0-5.8 have been recorded in March. All of them occurred along the subduction zone, except the M 4.6 event, 50 miles SE of Yakutat.

We also reported seismic sources others than regional tectonic earthquakes. Of these, 40 were suspected quarry blasts (M0.7-2.2) located in the vicinity of either Fort Knox or Usibelli mines in interior Alaska, 95 ice quakes, primarily located in the Prince William Sound, Icy Bay, Yakutat Bay and SE Alaska, and 59 seismic events associated with volcanic activity (M0.8-2.7) mostly at Mt. Cleveland (5 events) and Katmai volcanic group.  Additionally, we reported 1 landslide that occurred 41 miles SE of Sutton on March 19.
