WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 13, 2023 TO FEBRUARY 19, 2023
During the week of February 13, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 914 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.2 that occurred on February 14 at 22:35:23 AKST (February 15, 07:35:23 UTC), 55 miles SW of Mt. Gareloi.
There were 60 volcanic earthquakes with magnitudes between M1.8-M3.2 under Takawangha Volcano in central Aleutians. This volcano is currently showing signs of unrest. See more information at avo.alaska.edu.
Other notable events include a magnitude 3.7 14 miles W of Kaktovik on February 17, 2023 14:35:07 AKST, and a magnitude 4.0 22 miles SW of Willow on February 16, 2023 14:32:34 AKST that was reported as felt widely in Anchorage and MatSu valley.
There were 6 icequakes recorded in Prince William Sound and Mt. Wrangell. Three events were reported as felt.
