MONTH SEISMICITY REPORT FOR JUNE 2025

During the month of June 2025, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 1774 earthquakes within the state with magnitude ranging between 1.07 and 5.2 and depth between 0 and 257 km. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.2 that occurred on June 27 at 22:08:24 AKDT (June 28, 06:08:24 UTC), 98 miles S of Nikolski. There were 10 events with magnitudes between 4.0 and 5.2. All these earthquakes occurred along the subduction zone except one, the M4.2, on June 14th, 28 miles NW of Central. This event was felt in Fairbanks and throughout the eastern Interior region of Alaska. It was an earthquake with  the largest number (289) of "Did you Feel It" responses in June.

We reported 22 seismic sources other than regional tectonic earthquakes. Of these, 1 was suspected quarry blast (M2.5) at Usibelli mine, 12 glacial events of M1.3-1.8 primarily located in the Prince William Sound, Icy Bay and Yakutat Bay,  and 9 seismic events associated with volcanic activity at Katmai volcanic group and  Mt Spurr.

There were ten earthquakes reported as felt in June.
