WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR DECEMBER 11, 2023 TO DECEMBER 17, 2023

During the week of December 11, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 704 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.7 that occurred on December 16 at 10:24:40 AKST (December 16, 19:24:40 UTC), 23 miles NW of Iliamna Volcano. This event was reported as being felt.

As another notable event, a magnitude 3.5 occurred 16 miles W of Healy on December 12, 2023 06:13:26 AKST, which was felt in Fairbanks, Healy, and Nenana.

We recorded some activity of the Purcell Mountains swarm region with 14 events during this week, ranging in magnitudes between 1.0 - 2.6.

There were 2 icequakes recorded in the Prince William Sound region.

3 events were reported as felt.
