WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR DECEMBER 4, 2023 TO DECEMBER 10, 2023

During the week of December 4, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 760 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.8 that occurred on December 4 at 01:19:03 AKST (December 4, 10:19:03 UTC), 71 miles S of Chagulak Island.

Some of the significant events include a magnitude 4.3 earthquake that occurred 24 miles NW of Kaguyak Crater on December 6, 2023 17:57:27 AKST, a magnitude 3.8 earthquake that occurred 9 miles E of Skwentna on December 5, 2023 13:21:37 AKST, a magnitude 3.6 earthquake that occurred 39 miles N of Hayes Volcano on December 5, 2023 03:09:15 AKST, a magnitude 3.4 earthquake that occurred 8 miles NW of Valdez on December 6, 2023 22:56:58 AKST, all of these events were reported as felt in the south-central region of Alaska.

There were 10 icequakes recorded in the Prince William Sound region and Yakutat Bay.
