WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 12, 2024 TO FEBRUARY 18, 2024

During the week of February 12, 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 718 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.8 that occurred on February 11 at 15:40:15 AKDT (February 12, 00:40:15 UTC), 38 miles S of Yunaska Island.

Some notable events during this week include a magnitude 4.7 earthquake occurring 37 miles south of Kantishna on February 14, 2024, at 12:43:36 AKST, which was felt in south-central Alaska. Additionally, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck 16 miles west of Augustine Volcano on February 12, 2024, at 02:46:14 AKST, felt in Homer Alaska. Another significant event was a magnitude 3.9 earthquake recorded 29 miles northeast of Tanana on February 13, 2024, at 23:58:43 AKST. Lastly, a magnitude 3.2 earthquake occurred 4 miles southwest of Kasilof on February 16, 2024, at 00:23:06 AKST and was reported as felt.

During this week we recorded 26 aftershocks of the January 19, 2024, M5.3 Salcha earthquake, ranging from M0.6 to 1.9.

There were 14 icequakes recorded in the Prince William Sound and Yakutat Bay regions.

Three events were reported as felt.
