WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR MAY 26, 2025 TO JUNE 1, 2025
During the week of May 26, 2025, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 430 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.1 that occurred on May 30 at 01:44:28 AKDT (May 30, 09:44:28 UTC), 26 miles NE of Atka. This event had a small aftershock sequence of 13 events, ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 in magnitude.
It was fairly quiet for felt events this week, with just two events with relatively low felt report numbers.
The first felt event was on May 30, 2025 05:51:22 AKDT, a magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred 27 miles S of False Pass. This event had 9 following aftershocks, and was reported as felt in Sand Point, False Pass, and Akutan.
The second felt event, a magnitude 3.7 earthquake, occurred on May 26, 2025, at 19:14:05 AKDT, 23 miles S of Illiamna Volcano. This event was reported as felt in Homer.
There were no icequakes detected in any of the usual locations this week.
