WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR APRIL 28, 2025 TO MAY 4, 2025
During the week of April 28, 2025, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 351 earthquakes within the state. The largest event was a magnitude 5.0 that occurred on April 27 at 18:35:01 AKDT (April 28, 02:35:01 UTC), located 43 miles south of Nikolski. Two of the other ten largest events this week also occurred in the same area. None were reported as felt.
The next largest earthquake, a Magnitude 4.7, 18 miles NW of Cooper Landing, April 29 00:03:41 AKDT, occurred on April 29 at 00:03:41 AKDT. It triggered 10 aftershocks and was widely felt across the Kenai Peninsula. Numerous felt reports were also received from the Anchorage area. Three additional felt events were recorded: two in Cook Inlet and one approximately 60 miles north of Anchorage.
Additionally, three icequakes were detected in the Prince William Sound area.
