WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR JULY 4, 2022 TO JULY 10, 2022

During the week of July 4, 2022, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 1025 earthquakes within the state.  The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.3 that occurred on July 8 at 01:40:19 AKST (July 8, 09:40:19 UTC), 8 miles E of Koniuji Island.  All other events greater than 3.5 occurred along the subduction zone except for a M5.2 48 miles S of St. George, a M4.4 6 miles W of Tatitlek, a M4.4 11 miles NW of Iliamna Volcano, and a M4.2 53 miles S of St. George.  There was a swarm of 37 earthquakes in the area surrounding St George Island from July 4th through July 7th, 25 of which were aftershocks of the M5.2 earthquake.  Areas of ongoing seismicity include the Purcell Mountain swarm, Kaktovic, offshore Kodiak, and Simeonof-Chignik zones.  There were 9 icequakes recorded in Prince William Sound and Wright Glacier.  Three events were reported as felt.
