WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR JULY 8, 2024 TO JULY 14, 2024

During the week of July 8, 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 806 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.7 that occurred on July 12 at 18:28:51 AKDT (July 13, 02:28:51 UTC), 58 miles SE of Akutan.

On July 10, 2024 01:00:12 AKDT, a magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred 74 miles SE of Homer, and was reported as felt throughout Homer and Kodiak.

Several event swarms in the Aleutians continue this week from previous weeks. Notably, the swarm east of Atka continues this week with 14 events, down from 27. 

Seasonal glacial activity at Wright Glacier, east of Juneau, picks up from last week with 23 icequakes, ranging from 1.5 to 2.8 in magnitude. Overall glacial events for the week conclude at 28.

Higher activity north of Arctic Village from last week appears to be subsiding, with only 2 events of 1.1 and 1.5 magnitude.

This week, 3 events were reported as felt.
