WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR JUNE 26, 2023 TO JULY 2, 2023

During the week of June 26, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 906 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.8 that occurred on July 1 at 05:41:30 AKDT (July 1, 13:41:30 UTC), 12 miles S of Herbert Island.

Some of the notable events include a magnitude 4.6 earthquake that occurred 30 miles S of Adak on June 25, 2023 23:35:16 AKDT, a magnitude 3.7 earthquake that occurred 15 miles N of Skwentna on June 26, 2023 22:28:36 AKDT, a magnitude 3.1 earthquake that occurred 14 miles W of Wasilla on June 27, 2023 00:01:49 AKDT, a magnitude 3.6 earthquake that occurred 57 miles N of Sutton on June 29, 2023 10:02:57 AKDT, all of these events were reported as felt in the surrounding areas, and a magnitude 4.2 earthquake that occurred 17 miles NE of Mt. Ugashik on July 2, 2023 14:47:05 AKDT followed by 10 aftershocks ranging from magnitude 1.5-2.7.

There were 48 icequakes recorded this week including 7 in Prince William Sound region and 41 NE of Juneau in Wright Glacier region. 

5 events were reported as felt.
