WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR MARCH 18, 2024 TO MARCH 24, 2024

During the week of March 18, 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 762 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.6 that occurred on March 19 at 08:14:16 AKDT (March 19, 16:14:16 UTC), 50 miles SE of Yakutat, which was reported as felt in Haines, Skagway, Elfin Cove, Juneau and surrounding areas. 

Another notable event this week was a magnitude 3.6 earthquake that occurred 9 miles NW of Skwentna on March 19, 2024 04:16:26 AKDT.

We reported a magnitude 1.3 landslide that occurred 41 miles SE of Sutton on March 19, 2024 02:26:59 AKDT. 

There were 34 icequakes recorded in the Prince William Sound, Icy Bay, Yakutat Bay, Glacier Bay National Park and SE of Juneau.

3 events were reported as felt.
