WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR MARCH 4, 2024 TO MARCH 10, 2024
During the week of March 4, 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 851 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.8 that occurred on March 6 at 06:25:09 AKDT (March 6, 15:25:09 UTC), 92 miles S of Isanotski Peaks.
Another notable event this week was a magnitude 4.2 earthquake that occurred 42 miles NE of Sutton on March 6, 2024 00:02:05 AKST, which was reported as felt in Anchorage and Chugiak. Additionally, we recorded increased activity in the Brooks Range northeast of Kobuk with 19 events ranging from M1.1 to 2.6.
During this week there were 26 aftershocks of the January 19, 2024, M5.3 Salcha earthquake, ranging from M0.6 to 2.0.
There were 25 icequakes recorded in the Prince William Sound, Yakutat Bay, and Mt. Wrangell.
One event was reported as felt during this week.
