WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR OCTOBER 2, 2023 TO OCTOBER 8, 2023

During the week of October 2, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 724 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.4 that occurred on October 6 at 03:34:03 AKDT (October 6, 11:34:03 UTC), 41 miles S of Nikolski.

Other significant events include a magnitude 3.9 earthquake that occurred 12 miles N of Hatcher Pass on October 3, 2023 16:08:12 AKDT, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake that occurred 43 miles N of Talkeetna on October 5, 2023 17:56:55 AKDT, a magnitude 4.2 earthquake that occurred 3 miles N of Anchorage on October 6, 2023 06:01:18 AKDT, and a magnitude 3.9 earthquake that occurred 26 miles W of Talkeetna on October 6, 2023 19:48:46 AKDT. These four events were reported as felt widely in surrounding areas. 

There were 47 icequakes recorded near Mt. Spurr, Prince William Sound, Icy Bay, and 34 of them was occurred near E of Juneau.
