WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR OCTOBER 9, 2023 TO OCTOBER 15, 2023

During the week of October 9, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 785 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.6 that occurred on October 11 at 18:41:13 AKDT (October 12, 02:41:13 UTC), 9 miles S of Chagulak Island.

Some of the significant events include a magnitude 4.3 earthquake that occurred 103 miles W of Elfin Cove on October 10, 2023 00:32:46 AKDT, a magnitude 3.5 earthquake that occurred 43 miles NW of Gustavus on October 14, 2023 15:15:52 AKDT, a magnitude 3.3 earthquake that occurred 13 miles S of Sterling on October 11, 2023 19:02:50 AKDT, a magnitude 3.3 earthquake that occurred 30 miles SW of Cantwell on October 12, 2023 03:53:18 AKDT.

There were 40 icequakes recorded near Denali National park, Prince William Sound region,  Icy Bay, Yakutat Bay and E of Juneau.

1 event was reported as felt.
