During the week of August 22, 2022, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 809 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.5 that occurred on August 22 at 08:35:01 AKST (August 22, 16:35:01 UTC), 14 miles SW of Amak Island.
All other events greater than 3.5 occurred along the subduction zone except for a M4.1 4 miles E of Healy, a M4.0 23 miles E of Augustine Volcano, a M3.9 5 miles NE of Girdwood, a M3.8 62 miles east of Yakutat, a 3.6 6 miles N of Valdez, and a 3.5 15 miles NE of Nome. Areas of ongoing seismicity include the Purcell Mountains, Kaktovic, offshore Kodiak, and Simeonof-Chignik zones. There were 32 icequakes recorded in Prince William Sound, Malaspina Glacier, Yakutat, Wrangell St. Elias, Glacier Bay, and Wright Glacier. Seven events were reported as felt.
