WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR DECEMBER 5, 2022 TO DECEMBER 11, 2022

During the week of December 5, 2022, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 1003 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.2 that occurred on December 10 at 13:11:04 AKST (December 10, 22:11:04 UTC), 47 miles SW of Buldir Is.

Other noteworthy events that occurred outside the subduction zone were a M4.4 20 miles S of Ester and a M3.8 37 miles NW of White Mountain on the Seward Peninsula.  The Purcell Mountain swarm showed an increase in activity compared to the previous week. 

There were 31 icequakes recorded in Prince William Sound, Yakutat, and Icy Bay.  Four events were reported as felt with the largest being the M4.4 S of Ester.
