WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR MARCH 13, 2023 TO MARCH 19, 2023
During the week of March 13, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 874 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.4 that occurred on March 19 at 07:06:27 AKDT (March 19, 15:06:27 UTC), 12 miles S of Anchor Point.
Activity near the Tanaga and Takawangha volcanoes decreased significantly during this week compared to last week. There were 70 volcano-tectonic events ranging in magnitude from M1.6-M3.1. These volcanoes are currently at "YELLOW Alert Level ADVISORY" by the Alaska Volcano Observatory. Please see https://avo.alaska.edu for more details.
There were three earthquakes reported as felt this week. They were the M5.4 that occurred on March 19 at 07:06:27 AKDT (March 19, 15:06:27 UTC), 12 miles S of Anchor Point, a M3.7 that occurred on March 19 at 02:12:11 AKDT (March 19, 15:06:27 UTC), 29 miles S of Kantishna, and a M2.8 that occurred on March 18, 2023 06:05:47 AKDT (March 18, 2023 14:05:47 UTC), 13 miles S of Willow.
There were 7 icequakes detected in Prince William Sound and Icy Bay.
