WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR JUNE 12, 2023 TO JUNE 18, 2023

During the week of June 12, 2023, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 887 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 5.3 that occurred on June 13 at 08:16:02 AKDT (June 13, 16:16:02 UTC), 24 miles SE of Mt. Gareloi.

Some of the significant events include a magnitude 4.3 earthquake that occurred 19 miles S of White Mountain on June 15, 2023 23:23:30 AKDT which was reported as felt in Nome. This event had 17 aftershocks ranging in magnitude from M1.3 to M3.2

This earthquake also had a precursor event, a magnitude 3.9 earthquake that occurred 19 miles SW of Golovin (Cheenik) on June 13, 2023 02:50:22 AKDT.  This event had 9 aftershocks ranging in magnitude from M1.4 to M2.6

There were 6 icequakes recorded near Prince William Sound, Icy Bay, and near Juneau.
