WEEKLY SEISMICITY REPORT FOR DECEMBER 9, 2024 TO DECEMBER 15, 2024

During the week of December 9, 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 861 earthquakes in the state. The largest event was a magnitude 6.3 earthquake that occurred on December 8 at 15:15:30 AKST (December 9, 00:15:30 UTC), 68 miles south of Adak. It was not reported as felt. This earthquake is part of an ongoing swarm sequence, with approximately 290 swarm events recorded this week. Additionally, 11 icequakes and 5 mining blasts were recorded this week.
