WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR JANUARY 6, 2025 TO JANUARY 12, 2025

During the week of January 6, 2025, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 664 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 3.9 that occurred on January 9 at 15:17:25 AKST (January 10, 00:17:25 UTC), 19 miles W of Ukinrek Craters. 10 aftershocks were recorded following this event, ranging from 1.4 to 2.7 in magnitude.

This week, AEC recorded one felt event. On January 6, 2025 06:43:28 AKST, a magnitude 3.6 earthquake, 23 miles S of Skwentna, was reported as felt throughout the Anchorage, Chugiak, and Eagle River areas.

Activity at Mt. Spurr declines this week, with just 6 events recorded, down from last weeks' 19 events. These volcanic events ranged in depth from 4 to 18 kilometers, and in magnitude from 1.1 to 1.8.

There were 6 icequakes recorded this week, ranging from 1.25 to 1.65 in magnitude.
