WEEK SEISMICITY REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 18, 2024 TO NOVEMBER 24, 2024
During the week of November 18, 2024, the Alaska Earthquake Center reported 580 earthquakes within the state. The largest earthquake was magnitude 4.0 that occurred on November 23 at 08:39:52 AKST (November 23, 17:39:52 UTC), 70 miles SE of King Cove.
One event was reported as felt this week: a magnitude 3.2 earthquake that occurred 16 miles N of Girdwood on November 24, 2024 14:42:23 AKST. This event was reported as felt in the Anchorage area with 108 reports.
There was increased earthquake swarm activity south of Adak during the week, with 15 events recorded ranging in magnitude from 1.8 to 3.7. On the other hand, the swarm activity near Atka mostly subsided this week.
There were 12 ice quakes detected in Prince William Sound.
